How it works
Pick the company on your original paperwork (installer or lender) and your contract type. The tool shows who you deal with now, the company's status, its official contact page and our guide to read next. It covers 48 installers, lenders and servicers, each with a source and the date we verified it. It collects no personal information.
Confirm your servicer on paper
The tool tells you who services most contracts from each company. Your own documents decide your case:
- Latest statement or bank record. The company you are paying now is your servicer, unless you received a transfer notice since.
- Transfer letters and emails. SunStrong says it emailed primary account holders at transfer; Solar Servicing says some Mosaic borrowers got a Servicing Transition letter naming a different servicer.[49][39]
- Page 1 of your loan agreement. The lender named there (not the installer) holds a solar loan. An installer going bankrupt does not cancel the loan.
- Original contract (lease or PPA). SunStrong calls the company on it your “originator,” and that decides which billing portal you use.[2]
Scam check: do not pay a “new servicer” that contacts you out of the blue. Confirm through the official site linked in the tool or the number on your statement. We do not advise homeowners to stop making payments or breach contractual obligations.
Our partner Solar Exit Group (Uso Holdings LLC) takes solar loans from any lender except Tesla, plus Sunnova PPAs. No cost to submit. Paid partner; it does not change our ratings.
Why your solar servicer changed
When a solar company fails, the contracts it owned are usually sold or handed to a servicer so payments keep flowing to the investors who own them. Three of the largest moves:
- SunPower to SunStrong (2024): SunStrong says it took over management of 110,000+ former SunPower customers in Q3 2024.[1] See SunStrong Management.
- Sunnova to SunStrong (2025): Solaris Assets, LLC bought Sunnova's assets and SunStrong services the accounts.[6] See the Sunnova bankruptcy guide.
- Mosaic to Solar Servicing (2025): Solar Servicing LLC, a Forbright Bank subsidiary, took over Mosaic's loan servicing on September 22, 2025.[38] See Solar Servicing LLC and the Mosaic loan guide.
When an installer fails but the lender does not (Freedom Forever, Titan, Pink Energy and others), nothing changes for the loan: you keep paying the lender. What you lose is the installer's workmanship warranty and service. Bankruptcy dates in this tool follow our solar company bankruptcy list.
Problems with a servicer can go to the CFPB or your state attorney general.[50][51] See our solar complaint guide.

Frequently asked questions
Who services my solar loan now?
The lender named on page 1 of your loan agreement, or the servicer it transferred the loan to. Former Mosaic loans are mostly serviced by Solar Servicing LLC; former Sunnova and SunPower contracts by SunStrong Management. If only your installer went bankrupt, you still pay the same lender.
Who took over Sunnova solar contracts?
Solaris Assets, LLC bought substantially all of Sunnova's assets in 2025, and SunStrong Management services the leases, PPAs and loans.
Who took over SunPower leases and PPAs?
SunStrong Management, which says it took over management of more than 110,000 former SunPower customers in 2024. SunPower loans from outside lenders stay with that lender.
Who services Mosaic solar loans now?
Solar Servicing LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Forbright Bank, since September 22, 2025, except some loans sold to investors who chose another servicer.
My solar installer went bankrupt. Do I still have to pay?
Generally, yes. A loan is owed to the lender, and a lease or PPA is owed to the company that owns it, not the installer. We do not advise homeowners to stop making payments or breach contractual obligations.
Does this lookup tool save my information?
No. The tool runs in your browser on data built into the page. It does not ask for or send any personal information. The optional partner form is separate and only opens if you click it.
Still paying a solar loan (not Tesla) or a Sunnova PPA? See if our partner Solar Exit Group can help. No cost to submit. Paid partner; it does not change our ratings.
