The answer
Checked October 19, 2026: SunStrong Management is the company that now bills and services many solar contracts left behind by bankrupt solar companies: former SunPower customers since 2024, former Sunnova customers since 2025 and part of PosiGen's customers since 2026.[1] It says your contract terms do not change and you should keep paying as usual.[2] We did not find a customer phone number on SunStrong's own site; it routes requests through an online inquiry form.[3] Connecticut's Attorney General opened an investigation into SunStrong in 2026.[4]
Our partner Solar Exit Group (Uso Holdings LLC) takes solar loans from any lender except Tesla, plus Sunnova PPAs. No cost to submit. Paid partner; it does not change our ratings.
Who is SunStrong Management?
SunStrong Management LLC describes itself as a full-service asset manager “unattached to an origination platform”: it does not sell or install solar. It sits between the investors who own solar contracts and the homeowners who pay them, handling billing, collections, monitoring and customer support.[1] Its own site lists it as established in 2024, with about 6 GW under management and more than 500,000 customers, and gives its NMLS ID as 2677746.[5] When the Sunnova deal closed in September 2025, SunStrong's CEO was Brendon Merkley, and former Sunnova CEO Paul Mathews joined SunStrong as Chief Revenue Officer.[6]
SunStrong says it was formed in Q3 2024 “to manage solar assets otherwise abandoned in bankruptcy.”[1] In practice that means many homeowners never chose SunStrong: their contract moved to it when the original company failed.
Which solar contracts does SunStrong service?
| Original company | What happened | What SunStrong took on | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| SunPower | Chapter 11, August 2024 | Management of 110,000+ former SunPower customers and assets (Q3 2024). Billing portal for SunPower lease, loan and PPA. | [1][7][8] |
| Sunnova | Chapter 11, June 2025; assets sold to Solaris Assets, LLC in September 2025; plan effective November 14, 2025 | Management of 400,000+ former Sunnova customers and assets (Q3 2025). Separate portals for lease and PPA and for loans. | [1][7][9][10] |
| PosiGen | Chapter 11, November 2025 | Management of “a portion” of former PosiGen customers (Q1 2026). Billing portal for PosiGen lease, loan and PPA. | [1][7][11] |
| GoodLeap | Operating | SunStrong's account page lists GoodLeap as an originator, with the bill-pay link pointing to GoodLeap's own login. SunStrong does not say which GoodLeap contracts it manages. | [7] |
For Sunnova, the new owner of the contracts is Solaris Assets, LLC, an entity formed by GoodFinch Management; SunStrong is the servicer.[6] Sunnova's old website is now a closure page that says SunStrong “has assumed responsibility for servicing and managing most in-service customer systems.”[9] Note the word “most.”
SunPower loans: many SunPower systems were financed by an outside lender. If your loan agreement names a lender such as GoodLeap or Mosaic, that lender (or its servicer) still holds the loan. Use our servicer lookup to check.
How do I know if SunStrong holds my contract?
- Check your email. SunStrong says it may have emailed the primary account holder at the time of transfer.[2]
- Check a recent bill. A bill from after the transfer date shows the new company's brand.[2]
- Find your originator. SunStrong says the company named on your original contract, or on bills before the transfer, is your “originator,” and that decides which billing portal you use.[7]
- Still unsure? Use SunStrong's customer service inquiry form and select “I Don't Know” as the original provider.[3] Or try our who services my solar loan lookup.
SunStrong billing portals and login
There is no single SunStrong login. Where you pay depends on your originator. These are the portals SunStrong links from its own account page:[7]
| Originator | Contract | Portal SunStrong links to |
|---|---|---|
| SunPower | Lease, loan and PPA | sunstrong.youronlineaccount.com |
| Sunnova | Lease and PPA | esp.myaccountinfo.com/Sunstrong |
| Sunnova | Loan | sunstrong.youronlineaccount.com |
| PosiGen | Lease, loan and PPA | billerpayments.com (SunStrong account) |
| GoodLeap | Lease, loan and PPA | home.goodleap.com |
For monitoring, former SunPower customers use the SunStrong Connect app, which replaced mySunPower. SunStrong says basic monitoring is free, premium features cost $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, and lease customers get premium features at no extra cost. It also ended free cellular connectivity for monitoring and asks customers to connect by WiFi or Ethernet.[2]
Scam check: only pay through a portal linked from sunstrongmanagement.com or printed on your statement. If someone calls claiming to be your “new servicer,” hang up and verify through the account page first.
How to contact SunStrong Management
- Online form: SunStrong's customer service inquiry form covers billing, selling or refinancing your home, underperformance and app support.[3]
- Phone: we did not find a customer service phone number published on sunstrongmanagement.com when we checked. Numbers circulating on third-party sites are not confirmed by SunStrong's site, so we do not list them. Sunnova's closure page tells customers to use the contact details in their SunStrong welcome email.[9]
- Mail: SunStrong's help center gives SunStrong Management LLC, 20 Greenway Plaza, Suite 540, Houston, TX 77046-4845 as its mailing address for program complaints.[2] For a dispute, send a dated letter there as well as using the form, and keep proof of delivery.
Maintenance: SunStrong's form says it does not provide maintenance for loan customers or for customers who own their systems outright (cash purchase or a paid-off contract). For installation problems it tells you to contact your original installer.[3]
Payoff letters, buyouts and selling your home
SunStrong does not publish a payoff or buyout formula. What it does say: keep paying, terms do not change apart from escalators already in your contract and sales tax changes, and tell it as early as possible when you sell.[2][7] SunStrong also says some prior servicers did not charge required sales tax and that it now collects it.[2]
- Request in writing through the inquiry form: a payoff letter (loan) or buyout/termination quote (lease or PPA), with a good-through date and how the figure was calculated.[3]
- Selling: the form's “Sell or refinance my home” path asks for the buyer's details, title company contact and estimated closing date; SunPower customers have a separate sale or refinance request button.[3] Start early so a lease or PPA transfer, or a payoff, does not delay closing.
- After a loan payoff: ask for the UCC filing to be terminated. Under UCC Section 9-513, for consumer goods the secured party must file the termination within one month after payoff, or within 20 days of your written demand if sooner (state versions vary).[12] See our UCC lien removal guide.

SunStrong investigations and lawsuits
| Date | Matter | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Feb 27, 2026 | Connecticut AG sends SunStrong a civil investigative demand seeking records on the transfer of Sunnova and SunPower systems, terms, quality control, complaints and contracts | [4] |
| Mar 17, 2026 | Connecticut AG announces the investigation. It says it and the Department of Consumer Protection received about 65 complaints alleging SunStrong fails to uphold warranties, does not respond to complaints and charges a $10 monthly fee for production data | [4] |
An investigation is not a finding, and the release does not say SunStrong broke the law. We did not find a filed class action against SunStrong Management in the public sources we checked (we did not search every federal and state docket). People search for a “SunStrong lawsuit update”; if a case is filed, the court docket is the primary source.
