Maxeon Bankruptcy? Judicial Management and Your Panel Warranty

Maxeon did not file a U.S. bankruptcy. It is under court-supervised judicial management in Singapore and its stock was delisted. What that means for Maxeon and SunPower panel warranties, and why your loan is unaffected.

The answer

Checked October 21, 2026: Maxeon Solar Technologies did not file a U.S. bankruptcy. It is under judicial management in Singapore, a court-supervised insolvency process, since May 29, 2026 (interim order April 9, 2026).[2][4] Nasdaq decided to delist its shares on September 17, 2026.[6] Maxeon made panels, so your solar loan or lease is unaffected; the open question is your panel warranty.

What happened to Maxeon

On April 1, 2026, Maxeon and its subsidiary Maxeon Solar Pte. Ltd. each filed a voluntary application with the High Court of Singapore to be placed under judicial management under section 91 of Singapore's Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018.[3] Maxeon's filing gave its reasons: U.S. Customs and Border Protection's continued denial of entry for certain shipments of its products, increasing price competition, and the effect of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on tax incentives. It also disclosed that customers had started legal actions alleging breach of contract and seeking damages upward of $70 million.[1]

On April 9, 2026 the court placed both companies under interim judicial management and appointed Tan Wei Cheong and Lim Loo Khoon of Deloitte as interim judicial managers. From then on, the directors' powers ceased and the judicial managers ran the business.[2] On May 29, 2026 the court placed both companies under full judicial management with the same two managers.[4] Three independent directors resigned in early May 2026.[3]

What judicial management means, in Maxeon's own words: it gives a company in financial trouble "breathing space" to restructure, or to get a better result for its assets than a liquidation would. The judicial manager decides whether the company can be saved as a going concern, restructured, or sold off, and creditors vote on the plan. A judicial manager is typically appointed for an initial 180 days, which the court can extend.[1] Maxeon itself warned there is no assurance it can be rehabilitated.[1]

Your Maxeon panel warranty

This is the part that matters to homeowners. Maxeon still publishes its warranty documents, including a Maxeon Limited Warranty for PV Modules with an effective date of May 1, 2026.[8] Its claims process today:

  • Maxeon system owners: Maxeon tells you to contact your solar installer to do a site visit and submit the claim. Installers who are Maxeon partners file through Maxeon's warranty claim form.[8] If your installer is out of business, a licensed local installer can do the site visit; see solar repair after bankruptcy.
  • SunPower system owners: Maxeon says SunPower Corporation was the warranty holder for systems and panels SunPower sold, and SunPower declared bankruptcy in 2024. Maxeon provides only limited warranty coverage for legacy SunPower panels installed before August 5, 2024 and self-registered with Maxeon before December 31, 2024.[8]
  • Microinverters: Maxeon says the microinverters attached to SunPower "AC panels" were made by another manufacturer and are not covered by Maxeon's warranty. Claims for those go to the microinverter maker.[9]

A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. A company in judicial management keeps operating, but its judicial managers decide which obligations get paid and how. We found no statement in Maxeon's SEC filings about how warranty claims will be treated in the judicial management (searched October 21, 2026). Keep your registration, serial numbers, monitoring data and installer paperwork in one place. More on this: solar warranty after installer bankruptcy.

If you have a loan or lease

Maxeon made panels. It did not finance or lease your system, so its insolvency does not change what you owe. Your contract is with the lender or lease company on your monthly statement.

We do not advise homeowners to stop making payments or breach contractual obligations. A dispute is raised in writing while you keep paying; missed payments can damage your credit and weaken your position.

Frequently asked questions

Did Maxeon go bankrupt?

Not in a U.S. bankruptcy court. Maxeon Solar Technologies, Ltd. and its subsidiary Maxeon Solar Pte. Ltd. are under judicial management, a Singapore insolvency process. The High Court of Singapore placed them under interim judicial management on April 9, 2026 and under judicial management on May 29, 2026.

Is Maxeon still in business?

Yes, for now. Maxeon still runs its website and warranty pages, but its affairs, business and property are managed by court-appointed judicial managers from Deloitte Singapore, not by its directors. Its shares were delisted from Nasdaq after a September 17, 2026 decision.

Is my Maxeon panel warranty still valid?

Maxeon still publishes its panel warranty and a claims process, and tells Maxeon system owners to have their installer do a site visit and submit the claim. A warranty is a promise from a company in judicial management, so how claims are handled can change; keep your registration and paperwork.

Does Maxeon honor SunPower panel warranties?

Only in part. Maxeon says SunPower Corporation was the warranty holder for systems and panels it sold, and that Maxeon provides only limited coverage for legacy SunPower panels installed before August 5, 2024 and self-registered with Maxeon before December 31, 2024.

Does the Maxeon warranty cover microinverters?

No. Maxeon says the microinverters attached to SunPower AC panels were made by another manufacturer and are not covered by the Maxeon warranty.

Do I still have to pay my solar loan if my panels are Maxeon?

Yes. Maxeon made panels; it is not your lender or lease company. Your loan or lease is with the company on your monthly statement. We do not advise homeowners to stop making payments or breach contractual obligations.
