The answer

Checked October 20, 2026: EnerBank USA is now Regions Home Improvement Financing. Regions completed the acquisition on October 1, 2021,[2] and EnerBank borrowers now pay through the Regions online payment portal, by mail to Salt Lake City or by calling 1-888-390-1220, option 1.[1] EnerBank financed solar: it launched a solar PowerLoan with an optional re-amortization in 2017,[3] and Regions' 2022 investor materials list solar among the top projects EnerBank financed.[8] A June 2025 Regions contractor fact sheet does not list solar panels among the improvements eligible for its Express Loan Program,[9] and we could not confirm that Regions makes new solar loans today. Existing EnerBank loans are paid to Regions.[1]

Who services EnerBank loans now?

Regions Bank. Its page is titled "Regions Home Improvement Financing (formerly EnerBank USA)" and says "EnerBank is now part of the Regions family."[1] Regions and EnerBank announced on October 1, 2021 that the acquisition was complete, that EnerBank had served over a million homeowners and funded over $12 billion in home improvement projects, and that EnerBank would keep its Salt Lake City headquarters.[2] Older EnerBank web addresses now forward to Regions pages.

The EnerBank solar PowerLoan and re-amortization

On September 13, 2017 EnerBank introduced 12- and 20-year PowerLoans for solar PV with an optional re-amortization. The release listed APRs of 1.99%, 2.99% and 3.99% for the 12-year loan and 4.99% and 5.99% for the 20-year loan, and loan amounts of $15,000 to $65,000 on approved credit.[3]

  • Borrowers could pay down principal with a lump sum, such as a solar tax credit, within the first 18 months to lower the monthly payment while keeping the original rate and term.[3]
  • Re-amortizing required a lump sum of at least 15% of the original loan amount and a $150 fee.[3]

Those were 2017 launch terms; your own loan agreement controls. The CFPB says it is commonplace for solar-specific loans to re-amortize at a higher payment at the 19th month if the expected prepayment is not made.[4] If your payment jumped, compare your agreement's prepayment section with your statement before you call Regions.

EnerBank loan payoff and lien release

The Regions page does not describe payoff requests, so call Customer Service at 1-888-390-1220, option 1, for a payoff amount dated to your payoff or closing date.[1] Ask whether a lien or UCC filing was recorded on your solar equipment; the CFPB says some solar loans are secured by a lien on the panels and others are unsecured.[4]

After payoff, get the lien released. Under UCC Section 9-513, for consumer goods the secured party must cause a termination statement to be filed within one month after nothing is owed, or within 20 days after it receives your authenticated (signed or electronic) demand if that is sooner. State versions vary.[6] Our UCC lien removal guide has a demand letter.

Selling or refinancing with an EnerBank loan

The CFPB says sellers with a solar loan typically either have the buyer assume the loan, if the lender permits it, or pay it off.[4] Ask Regions which applies to your loan. If you plan to replace the loan with cheaper credit, read solar loan refinance first; refinancing your mortgage while the solar loan is open is covered in does a solar loan affect a mortgage refinance.

Your options with an EnerBank solar loan

  • Pay off or refinance using a Regions payoff quote.
  • Sell and pay off at closing. See selling a home with solar.
  • Raise installer problems with the loan holder. Consumer credit contracts arranged by a seller must carry the FTC Holder Rule notice, which says any holder of the contract is subject to the claims and defenses you could raise against the seller, and that your recovery cannot exceed what you paid under the contract.[5]
  • Check who installed the system. If the installer failed, see the solar company bankruptcy list.

Complaints. The CFPB accepts complaints about personal loans (installment loans) and several other products; it says most companies respond within 15 days.[7] You can also file with your state attorney general. How-to: filing a CFPB complaint against a solar company.

We do not advise homeowners to stop making payments or breach contractual obligations. Missed payments can trigger late fees and other penalties under your loan agreement; a dispute is raised in writing while you keep paying.
